Motivated students interested in the general areas of photonics and its engineering applications are encouraged to apply. There are numerous positions available in graduate and undergraduate levels spanning areas such as optical communications, optical networks, opto-electronic devices, and biomedical sensors. Solid background in lasers, semiconductor physics, and electrical engineering (communications, control, and electromagnetics) will be highly preferred.
The work environment is causal and intimate. Students are encouraged to work in teams and take advantage of the strong presence of the physics and chemistry departments to foster multi-disciplinary research projects. Interested applicants should inquiry directly with Dr. Yam.
