Safety Considerations and Cautions

All of the laboratory and field techniques used at PEARL require some familiarity with standard laboratory or field safety procedures.  The responsibility for safe and careful application of these procedures is yours.  Always  obtain all information available (i.e., Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) etc), proceed with caution and follow the safety procedures (for example use safety glasses, lab coat and gloves), this is particularly important when you are using strong acids, alkalies or oxidizing reagents.  Most manufacturers of laboratory equipment and chemical supply companies supply safety information, additional information may be found from other sources including the Internet.  Below are links to some MSDS providers and to PEARL's Glove Safety Page.
