Facts about the colony:
- Colony species: Locusta migratoria migratorioides L.
- Started in 1972 by Prof. Emeritus Jerry Wyatt and was taken over in 1990
by Mel Robertson
- At any one time there are between 5000 and 15 000 individuals in the colony
- The locusts are fed wheat seedlings and a dry mixture of oats, bran, skim
milk powder, and torula yeast; supplemented by sliced carrots
