In his book on Double Squeezes, Kelsey claimed that there is no such thing as a jettison double squeeze. He was wrong; two of the variants of the blocked double squeeze permit jettison versions. In the position above, the club A begins an atypical sequential squeeze; West is not yet under pressure, but East must discard a spade in order to prevent North's small diamond becoming a winner. South continues with the club K, and now West is also forced to discard a spade, allowing North to jettison the spade A so South can take the spades from the top.

Variations

1) Idle cards: the idle card in the North hand can be a loser in either single threat, but any other card would unblock the ending.

2) Extra winners: there is one other version of the jettison double squeeze, in which the squeezer has two winners in the suit held under the double menace:

South cashes the club A, retaining both single threats in the North hand. East is squeezed out of a spade, and now two more rounds of clubs squeeze West.
