Happy Birthday MomFrom Cord, Clay, Beauregard, Strawberry and all the animals you've helped.
This page is in honour of a special lady, who loves animals, and particularly shih-tzus, on her birthday.
Shih-tzus originated in Tibet, and then were introduced to China where the breed caught on and was further modified. It is thought that they were a cross between the Lhasa Apso and the Pekingese.
The name means "lion dog", and probably refers both to their bravery (they were used as guard dogs in temples--not large, but they definitely will sound an alarm) and their hair, like a lion's mane.
