Welcome to Gender Research in Music Education.

GRIME is both an international organization devoted to research in music education involving gender issues, and a special research interest group (SRIG) of MENC: The National Association for Music Education (USA). In addition to this web site, GRIME communicates with members through the electronic mail list GRIME-L, the GRIME Newsletter, and the on-line journal GEMS (Gender, Education, Music Society). We meet as a professional organization at the Feminist Theory and Music Conferences during even-numbered years, and at the MENC National Conferences during odd-numbered years. Do take time to explore the site and contact individuals who are doing work that is of interest to you.
