Welcome to Gender Research in Music Education-International.

GRIME is both an international organization devoted to research in music education involving gender issues, and a special research interest group (SRIG) of MENC: The National Association for Music Education (USA). In addition to this web site, GRIME communicates with members through an electronic mail list, the GRIME Newsletter, and the forthcoming on-line journal, GEMS (Gender, Education, Music Society). We meet as a professional organization at the Feminist Theory and Music Conferences during even numbered years, and at the MENC National Conferences during odd numbered years.

The GRIME web site includes information about our organization, its history and by-laws, lists of officers, links to related sites and members' web pages, and a bibliography of music education research in gender issues. Do take time to explore the site and contact individuals who are doing work that is of interest to you.
