The Eastern Ontario Drama League is an umbrella organization representing community theatres from Haliburton to Cornwall to Cobourg. Two festivals are held each year providing theatre groups the opportunity to learn and improve their skills through professional adjudications. The Full-Length Festival is held in the spring and the One-Act Festival in the fall.

Each year, the EODL awards the EODL Scholarship (formerly known as the Thérèse May Scholarship) to a young member of one of our groups who intends to pursue a Theatre Arts related program. To nominate a member, contact the President, Liz Schell.

Special Notice from Theatre Ontario

As announced at our Annual Meeting, John Goddard will be retiring as Executive Director of Theatre Ontario at the end of September 2011. Theatre Ontario's Board of Directors seeks an energetic and innovative Executive Director with a strong commitment to the health and vitality of our Ontario theatre community. Theatre Ontario's Executive Director is a hands-on manager, providing leadership and direction to staff, and has the vision necessary to lead the organization into the next phase of its growth. The ideal candidate is skilled at relationship and community building, revenue development and is aware of the artistic and political climate facing theatre across the province and Canada. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the candidate is strong on financial management, adept at written and oral communication, and creative in delivering a range of programs that serve theatre and theatre artists across the province. This candidate encourages partnerships with other arts service organizations in advocating for and on behalf of theatre, in addressing cultural and political issues, whenever and wherever possible.
