Welcome to the Bonier Lab

Organisms living in dynamic environments are confronted with the challenge of expressing plastic behavioural, physiological, and life history traits to best fit the conditions they face. Research in our lab is broadly aimed at understanding the selective pressures that shape adaptive plasticity, and the endocrine mechanisms that allow an individual to integrate and respond to challenges in its environment. In combination, our work seeks to increase understanding of phenotypic plasticity – how it is induced by the environment, how it is mediated by endocrine signals, and how it is shaped by natural selection.
