Since 2002 the FCCB has been conducted by Rick Cory. Born and raised in Cobourg, Ontario, Rick's association with concert bands began early, having joined the Cobourg Kiltie Band at age 10. After earning his B.Mus.(H) from the University of Windsor and B.Ed. from the University of Toronto, Rick moved to Kingston in 1973, where he taught music and computer studies at LaSalle and Frontenac Secondary Schools. After 29 years in teaching, Rick retired in 2002. Rick's involvement with the FCCB goes back to its beginnings in 1975 when he joined the band at its first rehearsal. A consumate trumpet player, Rick's skill on the horn is surpassed only by his deftness with the baton.
